Carol R. Anderson, 85, of Lone Tree, CO, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Swedish Hospital in Littleton, CO, surrounded by her family.
Born on May 8, 1940, in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late Ruth Patricia (Judge) Raffa and the late Thomas Paul Raffa Sr., and the stepdaughter of the late Agnes Faye (Bland) Raffa. Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers, Thomas P. Raffa Jr., Russell Raffa, and Salvatore "Tore" Raffa. She was the former wife of the late Edward Anthony (Tony) Anderson Sr., who passed away in August 1985.
Carol was the devoted mother of three children, the late Cheryl Wiedenbeck, the late Laurie Sharp, and her surviving son, Edward Anderson Jr. She was the proud grandmother of five: Kayla, Sophia, Arielle, Analiese, and Spencer and great-grandmother to two little girls. Her grandchildren lovingly called her "Mimi," a name that brought her great joy.
Carol grew up in Newport, where she created a lifetime of cherished memories along the shores of Easton Beach. She graduated from St. Catherine Academy and was honored to be presented as a debutante, a milestone that reflected her grace and elegance.
A spirited and adventurous woman, Carol loved to travel. Some of her favorite destinations included Bermuda, Hawaii, Naples, Florida, and Las Vegas where she enjoyed the thrill of playing the slot machines. She also found joy in life's simple pleasures: sipping wine with her friends, savoring lobster in all its forms, and enjoying hush puppies and fried clams. Each morning, she could be found with her daily newspaper and a large cup of coffee, staying connected to the world around her.
Carol's courage and generosity were best exemplified at the age of 55, when she gave one of the greatest gifts a mother can give donating a kidney to her daughter Laurie, saving her life.
She will be remembered for her love of the beach, her adventurous spirit, her laughter over good food and wine, and her unwavering devotion to family. Her legacy of love and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 10:00AM at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.
