Carol Lynn Arne, 80, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, on her beloved farm in Lake Preston, South Dakota.
Carol was born on October 13, 1944, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She and her parents lived in Greene, Iowa, and eventually settled in Renwick, Iowa, where she pursued her education with dedication, graduating from Renwick High School before continuing her studies at the University of Iowa. Her passion for healthcare led her to earn an RN degree from Mount Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota. She further advanced her medical expertise by obtaining qualifications as a Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner from the University of North Dakota.
Beyond her professional life, Carol had a deep love for animals of all kinds. Whether large or small, she had a special place in her heart for them and was known for rescuing any animal in need. Gardening and reading were also among her favorite pastimes, bringing her both joy and relaxation.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Deborah (Bill) Chiles and Kara (Chad) Brunick; her grandson, Cory Gleich; her sisters, Barbara (Bob) Harvey and Sandra (B.G.) Campbell; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as her dear friend, Amiel Redfish. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Elmo and Marion Arne, and her brother, David Arne.
Carol's kindness and dedication to both people and animals left a lasting impact on those who knew her. A Celebration of Life at Carol's farm will be held at a later date.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Crawford-Osthus Funeral Home of Arlington, Lake Preston and Oldham.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the local animal shelters.
