Carol (Anhorn) Backman was born to Raymond and Mildred (Wetzel) Anhorn on March 2, 1956. She was born and raised in Mandan, where she graduated from Mandan High School.
On June 11, 1976, Carol married the love of her life, Gary Backman, at First Lutheran Church in Bismarck. They went on to have two sons, Travis and Michael.
Carol had numerous occupations that she loved. She enjoyed running her own daycare where she impacted the lives of multiple children that were very dear to her. She also loved working at Ben Franklin Crafts in Bismarck, where she was able to work every day around one of her biggest passions in life. She was even featured in the Ben Franklin Crafts magazine for her Terra Cotta Santa creation. She retired in 2017 from her last occupation at EMC Insurance.
Carol truly enjoyed all kinds of crafting activities, including sewing, quilting, stamping and so many more. She also enjoyed spending hours shopping at local craft stores for some new and exciting fabric to add to her VERY large collection. Her greatest enjoyment however was being able to spend time with all of her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her two sons, Travis (Robyn) and Mike (Lori); four grandchildren, Derryck, Jazmynn, Jordyn and Krystal; and one great-granddaughter, Stella; siblings, Gary (Pat) Anhorn, Peggy Benz and Sandy Prudente; and many other loving family and friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mildred; and nephew, John "Ernie" Prudente.
Also waiting for her in Heaven with a bottle of O'Douls, a side of Clamato, a glass of ice, and a pickle is the love of her life, her husband, Gary.
