Carol Engen Beus, 83, American Fork, Utah passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Carol was a beloved wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many.
She was forever kind, patient, optimistic, and loving. She will be greatly missed while her memory and legacy will be remembered and cherished. She was born on April 10, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Corey and Norma Engen. She grew up in McCall, Idaho where her father Corey Engen developed and managed the Brundage Mountain ski area.
She married Gary Beus on December 19, 1961, in the Salt Lake Temple and spent the next 63 years at his side supporting each other through life's journey. Their married life included time in Provo, Utah for undergraduate schooling (BYU), Blacksburg, Virginia for graduate school (Virginia Tech), Orem, Utah as Gary worked as a professor in the Statistics Department at Brigham Young University.
Gary & Carol were co-founders of the American Heritage School and Carol worked there for many years as an administrator and in the music program. Later they moved to St. George, Utah and they worked as Directors of the Family History Center for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Their last few years together were spent in American Fork, Utah among family and friends. Carol spent her life as a devoted wife and mother and well as providing endless service to others. She had an especially great love of music and was an accomplished musician. She held many callings in the church, but more than anything loved to play the organ and did so throughout her life up until her last few days. She will be remembered most for her faith and love of family.
She was a mother of 6, Steven (Dena) Beus, Roger (Karen) Beus, Alan Beus (deceased), Brian (Caroline) Beus, Susan (Scott) Herbst, Richard (Barbara) Beus; grandmother of 16; and great grandmother of 5. She is survived by her husband Gary, 5 children, 15 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and mother; brother, David Engen; son, Alan Beus; and granddaughter, Alli Beus.
At this special time, we celebrate her life and the loving influence she has had and will always have with those who were fortunate to know her.
A viewing will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Graveside Service and Interment at Noon at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah.
