CAROL ANN BOEDING, 79, beloved wife of Carlan Hinnant, passed away Sunday evening, April 14, 2024, in Aiken Regional Medical Centers with her loving family by her side.
A native of Denver, CO, Carol was a daughter of the late Conrad J. and Clarice Renaud Boeding. A devote Roman Catholic, she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph at 18. She received a bachelor’s degree from Fontbonne College and Master of Education from Colorado College. She taught children in Sainte Genevieve, MO, and Rolla, MO. She served as the school principal in both Rolla and Saint Joseph, MO. Following her heart, Carol left the community in 1979 to begin a new life in Charleston, SC with her life partner, Carlan. She taught school in Mt. Pleasant, SC, worked as an adjuster for Allstate and was a professional dog walker in Maryland. Carol and Carlan moved to Aiken in 2016 and became active members of Aiken Unitarian Universalist Church. She was devoted to and actively involved in Social Justice work, Environmental Justice, American Indian Education and Animal Welfare. Carol loved spontaneous adventures, road trips to the Great Plains, Liverpool Football Club, classical music, and traveling to the UK and Ireland.
Surviving is her wife of 48 years, Carlan; two brothers, Conrad J. Boeding, Jr. (Trudy), Denver, CO, Craig A. Boeding (Maria), Mesquite, NV; a sister, Claudia M. Baca, Denver, CO. Additionally, she was a loving and devoted aunt to a large number of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great niece and nephew. She was loved by all of her many cousins.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 20th, 1PM at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home in Aiken. A memorial service will follow at 2 PM with The Rev. Debra Guthrie officiating. To honor Carol’s wishes, the family asks for you to wear red for Liverpool or bright colors for spring.
A memorial service will be held on May 17th in Denver. Details to follow.
