Chuck Boeding, 86 of Montezuma passed away Monday evening, December 29, 2025 at UnityPoint Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Saturday, January 3, 2026 at the Community Hope Church in Montezuma. Burial with military rites will be in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Friday, January 2, 2026 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Montezuma Fire Department, Montezuma Ambulance or the Montezuma Lions Club. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.
Charles Edward Boeding, the son of Edward and Mary Irene Flanagan Boeding was born on November 3, 1939 at
Iowa City, Iowa. He attended Deep River School before graduating from Tri-County High School in 1957. Following high school, Chuck enlisted in the United States Navy serving four years. Following his honorable discharge, he came back and worked at International Implement in Montezuma and the Standard Oil Station. Chuck was united to marriage to Linda Taylor on October 19, 1963 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Brooklyn. To this union three children were born, Shelly, Wendy and Justin. He then began his 30 year career with the Poweshiek County Road Department driving a truck and working in the maintenance department. Following his retirement in 1997, Chuck stayed busy driving a school bus for the Montezuma Schools and later worked at Brownells. He was a 50 plus year member of the Montezuma Lions Club and served as President of the Lion's Pin Traders and over the years collected several thousand pins. Chuck also enjoyed trips to the Casino, sitting outside in the sun waving and talking to everyone that passed by, and enjoyed watching his favorite TV show, Blue Bloods. Most importantly, he loved playing with his grandkids and great grandkids. Chuck's favorite saying was calling his wife "Boss Lady"!! He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was active in the Knights of Columbus for a while.
His memory will be honored by his wife, Linda, of Montezuma; his children, Wendy (Dan) Dierks of Waterloo and Justin (Jayne) Boeding of
Red Wing, MN; son-in-law, Greg Long; grandchildren, Emily (Zach) Craig, Jessica (Brad) Hutchcraft, Eli Boeding and Evie Boeding; great grandchildren, Jacob Hutchcraft, Aislyn Hutchcraft, Sawyer Hutchcraft, Tatum Hutchcraft, Noah Craig, Annalise Craig and Tucker Craig; brother, Roger (Marve) Boeding; sister, Cathy (Dale) Trimpe and sister-in-law, Jean Boeding, brother-in-law, Harry Burdock as well as many other relatives and friends.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Shelly Long; his great granddaughter, Chloe Hutchcraft; his brother, Ronnie Boeding and sister, Betty Burdock.
