Carol Louise Bogner of Raleigh, North Carolina passed away unexpectedly shortly after 6 am on Friday, October 31st, 2025, in the hospital. She was 89 years old.
She was born on December 24th, 1935, in Masury, Ohio, the daughter of Alexander Vitello and Mary Horvath Vitello.
Carol graduated from Brookfield High School. She married John R. Bogner Sr. on November 6th, 1954, and they were happily married for 60 years.
In 2000, John and Carol relocated to Raleigh, NC to be closer to family. The couple also enjoyed spending time over the years at their beach condo in North Topsail Beach, NC.
Mrs. Bogner was a parishioner at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Apex, NC. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family, including her 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Surviving are: a son, John R. Bogner, Jr. and his wife Deborah Romans Bogner, Clayton; a daughter, Michelle Bogner Hardin, Apex; a sister, Dr. Elaine Vitello, Illinois, and her partner Lawrence "Larry" Staples; five grandchildren: Danielle Bogner Larson, Cary; John R. Bogner III, Holly Springs; Carolann Hardin, Fuquay Varina; Cristen Hardin Ayers, Holly Springs; and John Hardin, Holly Springs; and eight great-grandchildren: Bradley, Samantha, and Charlotte Larson, Cary; Paige and Shea Bogner, Holly Springs; Peyton and Maverick Ayers, Holly Springs; and Hudson Hardin, Holly Springs.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Mary Vitello; her husband John R. Bogner, Sr.; her sister Eleanor Vitello Warner; and her brother Robert "Bob" Vitello.
A funeral mass will take place at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 3008 Old Raleigh Road, Apex, NC on Friday, November 14th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a monetary donation to St. Andrew's Church on behalf of Carol Bogner.
