Carol Brandenburg, 83, of Kronenwetter, passed peacefully Monday, April 28, 2025. Born Carol Lee Rebernick to the late Leo and Bessie (Flegle) on November 6, 1941 in Mosinee. The oldest in their family of six, Carol was a proud sister and daughter. She worked hard and always put her family and others first. From volunteering in the schools, assisting at the health care center, and serving her church, St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Carol devoted her life to serving others; including the love of her life, Tom, who called her home to be with him.
Tom and Carol were married September 18, 1965, at St. John’s Lutheran Church. On February 3, 1978, they had a son, Brent. They raised Brent to recognize this balance between hard work and play. They played hard all summer up north with many good friends on Horsehead Lake. She enjoyed her long morning walks, berry-picking and canning by day, card-playing evenings, and late-night yoga. Carol taught her grandkids that being together was the most important value you have in life. She also made sure their bellies were full of her delicious meals and homemade seasonal pies; rhubarb pie, blackberry pie, cherry pie, and of course, pumpkin pies in the fall. She loved to cook and bake for the family to be able to come together over long talks at the table and late into the evening when the cards and games came out. Her ability to outplay the grandkids and her beautiful smile will be greatly missed.
Carol is survived by son, Brent (Meghan); four grandchildren, Harper, Xander, Bridger, and Ryder; nieces, Kim (Jeff) Kobes, and April Albright; and nephew, Mark (Jill) Andreae.
Besides her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; first son, Brian; siblings, James Rebernick, Sandy Laufenberg, & Diane Wilson.
The family would like to thank the following friends for their help; Don and Sue Schmidt, Jean Bohman, Mark and Betty Martino, Don and Carol Clark, Mary Hartman, Cheryl Svetlik, Chris Ewan, Becky at Davita, and Dr. Hameed and the nurses at Aspirus Hospital.
A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Wausau. Pastor Chris Ewan will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service, all at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is assisting the family with arrangements.
