Obituary published on Legacy.com by Weir Mac Cuish Family Funeral Home on Apr. 1, 2025.
Carol A. Carbone, 77, of Malden, passed away on March 16, 2025 after a short, but courageous battle with breast cancer.
Carol was born on December 26, 1947 to Michael and Kathryn Moreschi, in Boston, MA. Carol graduated from Malden High School in 1965. She later went on to study Nursing at The Soldier's Home and Somerville Hospital School of Nursing.
Throughout her 30+ years as a Registered Nurse she worked in the operating room at Somerville Hospital, St. Elizabeth's Hospital and most recently as an RN First Assist at Melrose Wakefield Hospital where she retired from.
Carol loved to read, cook, visit museums, and learn about history. More than anything she enjoyed spending time with her grandson. She spent many years going to the Bahamas with friends, doing volunteer work with Project Hands in Guatemala, and Camp TLC in Massachusetts and California. In addition to volunteering, she enjoyed travelling to Italy in the summer to explore its various regions, and visiting Ischia and Capri.
After retiring, she enjoyed spending her days volunteering for the Everett Public Schools at both the Parlin and Keverian Schools. She was well known as "Mrs. C" and helping students learn to read and master their math facts brought her great joy. Even more than helping students achieve academic success, she also took great pride in working with students to develop strong social and emotional skills to help them learn how to manage their emotions, build relationships, and make responsible decisions in and out of the classroom.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Carol DeMagistris and husband, Darin of Medford, her grandson Dean Cunio of Alpine, WY, her sisters, Gail Norris of Malden, Elaine Holbrook of Everett, and Kathy Tolvanen and husband Warren of Beverly. She was a second mother to Kerry Murphy of Stoneham, known lovingly as Big C to Colin DeMagistris, Abbie Russo and husband Adam, and is survived by nieces, nephews, a great niece and great nephews. She leaves behind a brokenhearted group of Parlin students as well as many other family members and friends.
it was her wish there be no visitation or services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Everett Teachers Association Scholarship Fund Parlin School 587 Broadway, Everett MA 02149. A scholarship will be awarded to a graduating Everett High School student who graduated from the Parlin School and is pursuing nursing in college. (please include In Memory of Carol Carbone in the memo).
