Carol R. Conaboy passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021 in Dunmore, Pa., at the age of 74.
A highly respected educator, writer, business owner and a devoted friend, Carol was a lifelong learner who enjoyed traveling, reading, playing bridge and sharing life experiences with family. She saw things from a unique perspective and had a great sense of humor, which always kept her friends and family laughing.
Carol taught English in the Scranton School District for 31 years. She was a devoted teacher and loved by her students. Carol had a B.A. in English from Marywood University and a M.A. in English from the University of Scranton. Additionally, she studied at NYU, Ireland's National Film Studios and Harvard. Upon retirement, she opened and operated a private tutoring center specializing in SAT prep. She was also the president of the Scranton Federation of Teachers Retirees for many years.
Carol was born in Scranton to the late James and Rose Conaboy on Dec. 15, 1946. She was a loving sister to the late James (Jimmy) Conaboy. She will be lovingly remembered by her niece, Kim (Andy) Roberts; grandnephew, Cameron (Rebekka) Roberts; grandniece, Carly Roberts; and numerous close friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Marywood University for the Carol Conaboy Memorial Annual Scholarship Fund, www.marywood.edu/makeagift or Marywood University, Office of University Advancement, 2300 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.
