Carol Ann Curtis Arnold, a beacon of kindness and courage, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family in Lexington, KY. Born on February 4, 1947, in Carlisle, KY, Carol's effervescent spirit and generous nature were evident from a young age.
Carol, a proud 1965 graduate of Nicholas County High School, lived a life marked by diligence and service. After a fulfilling career at Kentucky Textiles, she retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. Carol's impact extended as she served as the past President of the Arlington HOA Association, epitomizing leadership and community involvement, she was also a Kentucky Colonel, member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a published poet.
Described by those who knew her best as generous, courageous, and kind, Carol's faith was the cornerstone upon which she built her life. She was a devout Christian whose passion for sharing her beliefs was only matched by the love she had for her family. Carol took great joy in spreading the gospel and gifting wooden crosses made from olive trees in Jerusalem, touching the lives of hundreds with her acts of faith.
Carol's love for the simple things in life, like shopping at her favorite stores, Wal-Mart and Dollar Tree, allowed her to engage with friends and strangers alike, fostering a community where everyone felt like family. Her enthusiasm for the University of Kentucky's Basketball and Football teams could be felt through her unwavering support and spirit. The beauty she nurtured in her flower garden was a reflection of the beauty she saw in the world.
Above all, Carol cherished time spent with her treasured grandchildren - Jacob, Ben, Aaron, Michael, Taylor, and Greyson - who brought immeasurable joy and pride into her life. Her dedication to her children, Hutch Sherman LeCompte and Sami Sherman (Matt) Engle, exhibited the deep-rooted love and guidance only a mother can provide. Her close bond with her brother, Bobby Curtis, her sister, Debbie Hurst, father of her children, Gene (Becky) Sherman and her extended family of nephews, and cousins will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
Carol's legacy is one of love, kindness, and faith that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. Preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Guyn Curtis and Alma Louise Tout Curtis, Carol is now at rest, leaving behind a world that was undeniably brighter for her presence within it. Her laughter, her selflessness, her courageous spirit, and her unwavering kindness will forever be remembered in the hearts of those she touched.
