Carol Ann Cuthbert

Carol Ann Cuthbert, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully, at her home, on October 11, 2024, in Niles. Born in Benton Harbor, on April 22, 1948, to Elmer and Marian (Ameling) Richter, Carol's life was a testament to her loving nature and unwavering spirit.

Carol grew up in a warm and nurturing family, and although she was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Richter, her mother Marian Richter-Hart (Charles Hart), and her sister Nancy Marks, her legacy is carried on by a family that adored her. She is survived by her devoted husband, George Cuthbert of Niles, to whom she was married on June 27, 1970. Their union was blessed with three children, Lori (Greg) Kachlic of Summerville, South Carolina, Daniel (Jamie) Cuthbert of Buchanan, and Matthew (Heidi) Cuthbert of Niles, who in turn gave her the joy of seven grandchildren, Isaiah, Gabrielle, Grace, Lincoln, and Hudson Cuthbert, and Charlotte and Cole Kachlic. Carol also leaves behind six step-grandchildren, Don, James, Aaron, Drew, Amara, and Gabriel, as well as her sister, Linda (John) Dye of Nappanee, Indiana.

Carol's academic achievements began at Berrien Springs High School, where she graduated with the Class of 1966. She went on to earn an associate's degree from Lake Michigan College and, with a passion for helping others, graduated from Ferris State University with a degree in Pharmacy in 1971. Her career as a pharmacist was marked by dedication and compassion, providing over fifty years of service to the community. Carol worked at Berrien General Hospital, Mercy Hospital, and ultimately retired from Rite-Aid after more than two decades of committed service.

Beyond her professional life, Carol's interests were as rich and varied as her character. She was an avid crocheter and crafter, with a talent for creating beautiful pieces that she lovingly shared with her family and friends. Carol enjoyed the occasional trips to the casino, the art of cooking, and cherished moments spent at the family cabin in Reed City. However, it was the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, that brought her the most joy and fulfillment.

A faithful member of the Berrien Center Bible Church, Carol's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. It guided her through life's challenges and was a source of comfort and inspiration to those around her. Carol's kindness was felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her loving nature was evident in the way she lived her life and touched the hearts of many.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Bowerman Funeral Home in Eau Claire from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. with an interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs.
