Carol I. Davis

Carol Irene Davis, 71, passed away unexpectedly on November 30, 2023, leaving behind a cherished family and a rich community of friends.

Carol was born on September 24, 1952, in Carbondale, Illinois, to Robert and Charlotte Snyder, joining older siblings Bob and Jean. Robert’s long-standing military career first took the family from Carbondale to Châteauroux, France. Highlights from the Snyders’ European years included excursions to the Mediterranean coast of Spain and to Germany, among other destinations.

Following their time in France, the family spent five years in Tampa, Florida, before settling in Aurora, Colorado, in 1963, when Robert was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base. 

As a teenager, Carol, who graduated from Hinkley High School in 1970, worked at the historic Fox Theater. She took pride in purchasing her first car – a new, special-edition 1969 baby-blue and white Camaro – at 16, using her own money. 

In 1977, Carol met Gary Davis when both were working at Western Electric. Eight weeks later, on July 22 of that year, they were married at Aurora First Presbyterian Church, and remained happily so for the next 46 years. They began their married life in Aurora, later building a mountain home in Golden Gate Canyon, on a lot next door to Gary’s parents. Carol was deeply involved in building the home, and was as comfortable on the roof with a hammer in her hand as she was making the daily drive to work in Denver. 

A year after breaking ground on the home, she and Gary moved in, and later welcomed daughters Amy, in 1981, and Lisa, in 1983.   

Carol wholeheartedly supported her daughters in their activities as they grew up, including driving regularly from the mountains to Golden for their dance, instrumental music, and singing lessons, and sewing their Halloween costumes and Christmas dresses. 

The family later moved to Highlands Ranch, with Carol and Gary eventually moving to Castle Pines once Amy and Lisa graduated from high school.

Over the years, Carol worked in project management roles in the telecommunications field, including stints at Western Electric, AT&T, Lucent, and Avaya. She later managed billing for a local chiropractor, and ultimately concluded her career at Cigna. 

A voracious reader, especially following retirement, it was not uncommon for Carol to finish two or three books a week. She and Gary also enjoyed dining out and traveling. Their travels took them on cruises to the Caribbean and Mexico, along with trips to Disneyland and Walt Disney World, first with their daughters and later with their grandchildren.  

Carol’s grandchildren – Reagan, 14, Max, 11, and Madison, 9 months – were her heart and joy, and her favorite role was that of Grammy. Whether it was attending grandkids’ events, sports, and cheer competitions, or babysitting when the need arose, she and Gary enjoyed living close to their daughters and their families, and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. 

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Robert W. and Charlotte C. Snyder; brother Robert W. Snyder, Jr.; parents-in-law Leo A. and Christene (Teena) Davis; and brother-in-law William W. Allstun.  

She is survived by husband Gary; daughters Amy Meyers (Pete) and Lisa Borton (Reed); grandchildren Reagan, Max, and Madison; sister and best friend Jean Allstun; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends; all of whom will forever cherish their memories of Carol and all that she meant to them.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Parker Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 9030 Miller Road in Parker. Burial will be private, with Seven Stones Chatfield being Carol’s final resting place.

In tribute to Carol’s love of sewing and her devotion to her grandchildren, donations may be made in her memory to Project Linus, which provides handmade blankets to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need.
