Carol M. (Puffett) Dufrane

Carol M. Dufrane, passed away on May 23, 2025. The Daughter of Romaine (Bud) & Marion (Lytle) Puffett of Jamesville, NY, she was born in Syracuse and raised in Jamesville, she graduated from Jamesville-Dewitt Highschool in 1964. Carol attended CCBI where she received her associate's degree in business administration in 1966.
She met James Ernest Dufrane at Muench-Kruezer Candle Company in Syracuse in 1967 and married on June 8, 1968. Together they spent 49 years together before being predeceased by James in October 2017. Surviving are their four children James R. (Jodi) Dufrane of Oswego NY; Thomas J. (Sarah) Dufrane of Central Square, NY; Janis (Jody) Gauthier of Pulaski, NY; Scott Dufrane of Clay, NY, ten grandchildren as follow; Matthew Shaw, Austin Banack, Brian Dufrane, Sabrina Dufrane, Austin Dufrane, Leah Bartosek, Colton Dufrane, Gabe Gauthier, Nathan Gauthier, a great-grandson Jasper Dufrane, and several nieces and nephews.
Carol was quite a comedian, loved telling jokes. In 1987 Carol joined The Oswego Players, Inc. and brought many characters to life on stage. From 1990 to 1997 Carol directed 7 plays with the Oswego Players. Among other hobbies, Carol loved to breathe new life into everything where she purchased her lifelong dream car a 1964 Ford Fairlane. She could restore the oldest and ugliest item(s) into something beautiful and well loved. She brought that same enthusiasm and compassion to every animal she encountered. If Carol saw an animal in need, she would meet that need without hesitation. The house was always full of paws, the barn full of feet, and the air filled with nothing but love.
As Carol got older and life busier, she loved taking every minute she had to spend time with her Grandchildren. Making fun lifelong memories was her passion. She also loved the Buffalo Bills Football and could yell at the television like a Pro!
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025, from St. Anne Mother of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Mexico, NY. Interment will be in South Richland Cemetery. Relatives and Friends are invited to Calling Hours from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. from Harter Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Washington Avenue, Mexico, NY.
