Carol Jean (nee Collins) Flynn, who loved to be called Mom or Grandma by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, departed her loving family on June 18, 2025. Carol Jean was born in Aurora, Illinois on September 27, 1930 to Mary (nee Zagorce) and Anthony Collins.

Carol was mother to Mary; Daniel Anthony; Maureen Ann; James Joseph; Brian John; and Thomas Patrick Flynn. She raised her children with love and devotion in Aurora, Illinois with her husband James E. Flynn who preceded her in death on July 15, 2018.

She took pride as a homemaker and was an exceptional baker and cake decorator. Her Christmas cookies are a fond memory for many relatives. She was an ardent Cubs fan. When her children were in high school, she was also proud of her role at Marmion Academy as the print shop manager. She loved God and was a daily Mass-goer. When she could no longer go to church, she was so grateful for visits from Eucharistic Ministers from Annunciation (Aurora) and St John Neumann (St. Charles) parishes, in addition to the volunteers from Aurora Advocate Hospice. She also had a strong devotion to our Blessed Mother and prayed the rosary daily.

She is survived by her children and spouses: Mary Flynn; Daniel (Kathy) Flynn; Maureen (Philip) Skerda; James (Marigrace) Flynn; Brian (Cynthia) Flynn; and Thomas (Lauren) Flynn. In addition, her grandchildren: Jennifer (Scott) Walker; Andrew (Stephanie) Skerda, John (Melissa), Joseph and Jennifer Flynn; Patrick (Emily), Mary and Katheryn Flynn; Anthony (Karly) Flynn, Erin Flynn, Lauren Flynn, Emily (Tony) Spradlin, Anna Flynn; Courtney (Dale) Crane: and Brennan Crane and great-grandchildren: Carly and Anna Walker; Ryan, Kendall and Owen Skerda; Dahlia Flynn; Eloise Rose Flynn; Bentley Dills; Ella Flynn, Archer Spradlin; Nikolai, Leander, Rowan: and Sylvina Crane. She is also survived by an exceptional caregiver, Anna Joachimiak.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Yurs Funeral Home in St. Charles, Illinois from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. John Neumann Church in St Charles in Illinois on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 10:30 a.m.

Donations may be made to St. John Neumann Church; Marmion Abbey or Aurora Advocate Hospice.
