Bob Boynton, age 70, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, at Autumn Leaves Memory Care Facility, with his wife, Amy Boynton at his side.
Bob was a lifelong resident of St. Charles, Illinois. He was born on October 9, 1954 at Delnor Hospital and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1972. Bob and Amy were married at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in 1983 and enjoyed 41 years of marriage. Bob passed away in the very community he loved and faithfully served for seven decades.
Bob built a life grounded in hard work, faith, and love for his family, colleagues, church and community. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Bob owned and managed a family-run business, Boynton Products, which was started by his parents, Bill and Carolyn Boynton. Boynton Products was his one and only employer and he worked there for over 50 years. Bob employed many friends and relatives over
the years including both his son, Daniel, and his son-in-law, Dan Banovz. Known for his unwavering work ethic and integrity, Bob treated his employees with respect, often mentoring others and creating opportunities for personal and professional growth. His workplace was his second home.
Bob's faith was a guiding light throughout his life, shaping the way he led his business, raised his children, and showed up for those around him. He lived his beliefs quietly but consistently-through honest work, selfless service, and deep generosity of spirit. He was a founding member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church where he continued to serve until 2023 and worship until he was no longer able.
At home, Bob was a pillar of love and strength. He ensured that Amy had the time and space to do what brought her joy. He enjoyed watching their children play on the backyard playground which he helped build and the pool he so carefully maintained, though he seldom swam! He was pleased when his children graduated from St. Charles High School, the third generation of Boyntons, and was very proud as they each completed college and pursued their varied careers.
Bob had a love for cooking, often working with no recipe to create unique dishes for family and church gatherings. His children enjoyed being his sous chefs. A family tradition, started by his mom, was a red velvet cake which was made in numerous colors to celebrate holidays, weddings, or to cheer on the Chicago Bears and Cubs, no matter what kind of season they were having. He loved to watch Lord of the Rings, play a round of golf with family and friends, and read the newspaper every day.
In his final days, Bob remained kind-hearted. Autumn Leaves Caregivers described Bob as a sweet and gentle soul whose warmth and quiet presence brought comfort to those around him. His legacy of kindness, love, and humility lives on in the lives he touched. Bob is survived by his wife, Amy Milton Boynton; their four children: Lindsay Boynton (Dan Banovz), Kelly Santell (Stephen Santell), Daniel Boynton (Fanny Boynton), and Bradley Boynton. His three grandchildren: Samantha Santell, Zoe Boynton, and Hugo Boynton, brought him immeasurable joy. His eyes lit up each and every time the family visited.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Carolyn Boynton, and siblings Jim Boynton, Dan Boynton, and Nancy Boynton Stika.
Bob's celebration of life will be on July 26, 2025, at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Elburn, Illinois, located on the corner of Rte #38 and LaFox Road. Family will greet visitors at Lord of Life beginning at 10 am. A service will be held at 11 am. Following the service, all are welcome to enjoy a luncheon provided by the Lord of Life funeral committee. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Lord of Life Lutheran Church or an Alzheimer's Organization.
