- Jimmie Lee Boynton peacefully returned to his Heavenly home, surrounded by love, on the morning of August 22nd, 2025. Jimmie was a loving brother, husband, father, and grandfather whose lasting legacy of charity and kindness makes his loss seem almost unbearable for all those who knew him.

Jim was born in Taylorsville, Utah on September 13th, 1945 to parents Lucille and Jimmy Boynton. His formative years were marked by hard work and lots of mischief that he found with his closest friends.

Jimmie met his forever sweetheart, Norma Shaw, at a friend's birthday party when she walked in and Cupid struck his heart. He famously told anyone and everyone he knew that he knew Norma would be his wife the second she walked into that dance hall. The pair eloped in Idaho on December 28th, 1965 in between Jimmie's army deployments. They moved to Texas shortly after that where Norma patiently waited for her other half while he served in the US Army.

After Jimmie's service in the army came to an end, he and Norma moved back to Utah to be closer to their families. They moved into their home in Taylorsville, where they welcomed their three children, Bryan, Anna, and Barney.

Jimmie worked as a millwright at the Kennecott smelter for many years. Outside of work, he kept himself busy with his garden, projects at the family cabin in Tabiona, leading "Fishin' Wednesdays", lending a hand to neighbors in need, being a Cub Scout Master, coaching karate, and spending time with his children.

One of Jimmie's greatest titles was "Popo", the name bestowed upon him by his eldest granddaughter, Makayla. All of his grandchildren loved spending time with Popo, whether he was teaching them how to fish, playing card games, or giving them "one little" piece of advice.

Jimmie is survived by his wife, Norma, his three children, Bryan (Michelle) Boynton, Anna Boynton, Barney (Katie) Boynton, and seven grandchildren (Makayla, Brady (Sarena), Natalie (Jackson) Abigail, and Nora). He is preceded in death by his father, Jimmy, and his mother, Lucille.

Jimmie requested that his ashes be spread in his favorite place, the mountains. Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 6th, 2025 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building at 1555 West Lovely Road in Taylorsville, Utah at 10:30am followed by a luncheon for everyone to enjoy some food and visit. There will be a military honors ceremony at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery at 3:00pm on September 6th, 2025.
