Northfield and Orland Maine –
Carol A Gilbert, 83, passed away with her loving daughters by her side. She was born in Castine on July 25, 1942, the daughter of Russell and Elva Field.
Carol was employed at Champion/IP from 1977, retiring in 2003. She enjoyed veteran's affairs with her husband. Her children and grandchildren were the love of her life.
She is survived by her loving family. Daughters Dolores "Lori" Foster of Clifton, Lesley Gilbert-Canane (Brian) of Northfield, Grandchildren Todd Foster (Kate) of Eddington, Brandon Blair (Britney) of Bucksport, Bailey Blair of Bucksport, Great Grandchildren Eli and Lucy Foster and Sophia Blair and another on the way. Stepchildren of California; Leslie Gilbert Jr (Mary), Doris Gilbert, Renee Chavez (Roy), Denise Gilbert, Debra Gilbert. Step Grandchildren from Maine, Donna Fitzgerald (Garrett), Jeni Foster, Brian, Jason and Francis Canane, Gabrielle Windsor (Tyler) Step Granddaughters, Shayna Clark (Devon), Ael and Minwin Fitzgerald and June Windsor. 26 Step Grandchildren and several Step Greatgrandchildren from California and beyond. Brother Russell Field Jr (Sharyn) of Orland, Sister-in-law Anita Grindle of CT, a special cousin Joanne Pierce of Orland, several nieces and nephews, and many great friends.
She is predeceased by her husband and soul mate of 37 years Leslie "Bing" Gilbert. Her mother and father, brother Wayne Grindle, sister Lucy Field, Stepdaughter Carlyn Gallagher Son-in-law Wayne Foster.
A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 26,2025 at the Riverview Cemetery, River Road, Bucksport. A reception immediately following the service at the Orland Parish Hall, 24 Narramissic Dr, Orland. Those who wish to remember Carol in a special way in lieu of flowers may make gifts in her memory to the Maine Chapter of the Korean War Veterans.
