Strasser-Roller Funeral HomeCarol Ann Gresch of Antigo was surrounded by her family when she was called to the Lord on November 1, 2025. She was residing at Evergreen Terrace and was 78 years old.
Carol was born July 17, 1947 to the late Carl and Alice (Zweck) Knaack in Wausau. She graduated from Wausau East High School class of 1965. She went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree in English from UW Madison. She was united in marriage to Bill Gresch on December 26, 1970 at St. Stephen’s in Wausau. Together, they have 4 sons, 8 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
In addition to being a homemaker, Carol dedicated her time and talents to teaching and substitute teaching throughout the Wausau and Antigo School Districts, working with students from pre-kindergarten through technical college. She also worked part time at Gresch Implement for several years. Carol served as a volunteer at Langlade Hospital, hospice, homecare, and meals on wheels. For 45 years, Carol was actively involved with ADRC, reflecting her lifelong commitment to helping others.
A faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church, she sang in the choir for over 25 years. She was also a proud member of the Little Chicago Homemakers for 45 years. In her free time, Carol enjoyed exploring her family history through genealogy. She also enjoyed expressing her creativity through scrapbooking, crocheting, and ceramics. She loved her family and getting out on the boat on Pickerel Lake at the family cabin. She also enjoyed traveling the country and world.
In addition to her husband Bill, Carol is survived by sons; David (Karolina), Daniel (Angela), Michael Jon (Jennifer), and Patrick (Courtney), grandchildren; Bailey (Joe), Anton, Gavin (Nicole), Anya, Jacob, Sadie Ann, Theo, and Remy, one great grandchild; Hazel Grace, sister; Kay (Al) Andrew, brothers; Thomas (Kaleriya) Knaack and John (Hannah) Knaack, sister-in-law Anna Gresch, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by brothers Mark and Paul Knaack, a sister Carla and her brother-in-law Allen Gresch.
A memorial service for Carol will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Peace Lutheran Church at 11:30 AM. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
Carol’s family would like to especially thank Sarah and her exceptional staff at Evergreen Terrace for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Carol’s name can be directed to Peace Lutheran Church.
