Carol Dean "Rusty" Heafner, born March 23, 1963, passed away on June 13, 2025 at his home in West Columbia, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Louise Heafner; two sisters, Sarah Louise Rogers and Rebecca Robin Heafner; his brother, Roger Steve Haynes; and his beloved wife, Freida Heafner.
Rusty is survived by his two children; daughter Rachael (Phil) MacDonald, along with their two children, Raelyn and Jackson MacDonald of Longs, SC; and son Russell Heafner (Christie Collins) of Pawleys Island, SC.
He is also survived by his brothers, Michael (Regina) Heafner of Lexington, SC and Fred (Darlene) Heafner of Boger City, NC; sisters Catherine (Mike) Day of Olive Branch, MS; Jodena (Donald) Love of Oakboro, NC; and Jennie (Dwane) Shumpert of West Columbia, SC.
Rusty was a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working with his hands. His trade was in carpentry, and he found joy in building homes and creating lasting craftsmanship.He will be remembered for his love of family, the outdoors and the legacy he built with his hands and heart.
The family will be having a Celebration of Life at the Betty G. Ross Park in Lincolnton, NC on July 13 at 4 pm. All who knew and loved Rusty are encouraged to attend.
