Carol Ann Holweger

Grand Forks, ND – Carol Ann (Schmisek) Holweger, 77, died August 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving and devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother and soon to be great-grandmother.

Carol was born on January 28, 1948, in Grand Forks, ND, to Albert and Helen (Olson) Schmisek. She attended St. James High School ('66), as well as the State School of Science in Wahpeton ('67). That same year she attained her LPN Certificate. She married Lawrence (Larry) Holweger, at St. Michael's Catholic Church on October 21, 1967. While raising her two sons, she received her RN License from Northland Community College ('87) and was a caring nurse for 43 years.

Carol had a strong faith life with daily prayer devotions to The Virgin Mary & Holy Spirit, the priests of her parish, her family and many friends.

Carol loved to be active and enjoyed many hobbies including walking, gardening, golfing, card games, reading, camping, boating and her time with her children and grandchildren. She was also involved in volunteer functions for the church such as Bridge Builders, Liturgical Ministry, and bringing Communion to the elderly in the nursing home. She was looking forward to the next year with the birth of her first great-granddaughter (Jaden & Laura) and the Wedding of her grandson (Shawn & Ashley). She will always be with us in spirit and those that knew her will always remember her smile and her kindness.

Carol's life and memory will be cherished by her loving husband (Larry) of 58 years, her two sons, Todd (Bethani) of Bismarck, ND and Scott (Missy) of Chesapeake, VA; her grandsons Nikolas, Jaden (Laura), Shawn (fiancée Ashley), and Kasey; her five siblings – Roger (Bobbi) Schmisek, Joan (Tony) Scheett, Barbara Fowler, Gayle Bailey and John (Rita) Schmisek.

Her heart now rests with her parents, Albert and Helen Schmisek, and her beautiful granddaughter, Karli Jo, who she cherished as the only girl grandchild and now joins her in eternal peace.
