After three and a half months at home under hospice care, Carol Husted died peacefully Saturday, November 15, 2025.
Carol was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 20, 1941, which was Roosevelt's Thanksgiving that year just before the start of World War II. She grew up in Seattle, Chicago, and Scarsdale, NY, where she graduated from Scarsdale High School. Carol then earned her college degree in philosophy from Bucknell University.
Carol started her professional career in marketing at the Philadelphia Inquirer. She later moved to advertising in New York, where she met her first husband, Burnham Lewis. With five stepchildren to raise, she devoted her energies to parenting, including giving birth to a daughter and son. When they were grown, she returned to the workforce, initially in marketing for small businesses on Long Island before joining Chemical Bank's Portfolio Group. She concluded her professional career as a VP at Citibank, where she wrote investment management newsletters.
Carol was loving, perseverant, strong, compassionate, smart, creative, humorous, and graceful. She enjoyed tennis and golf. She played the piano effortlessly, thanks to her musical ear. She was a talented gardener and cook. She loved animals and felt passionately about animal rescue efforts. She and her husband Joe lived joyfully together for 40 years, in Locust Valley & New York City, NY, Springfield, VT, and Palm City, FL.
In addition to her husband, Carol is survived by her daughter, Megan Haseltine, and son, Turk Lewis, as well as 3 adored grandchildren, Burnham Lewis, Macy Lewis, and Jenner Haseltine.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in her honor be directed to either Domino's House Cat Rescue (www.dominoshouse.org) or your preferred animal rescue organization.
