Caroline A. La Grander, 90, formerly of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully under the care of Lawlis Hospice at her residence at High Point Senior Living in Port Washington, WI.
On December 6, 1934, Carol was born to Ignatz and Mary (Wirth) Weinfurter in Unity, WI. Following high school, she moved to Marshfield, WI, where she met Robert La Grander at a local dance. The two married on April 22, 1953, in Marshfield. In 1979, they started La Grander’s Drive In & Ice Cream in the town of Lafayette, which they owned and operated until their retirement.
Carol enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, puzzles, creating floral arrangements, musicals and live theater. She was a devoted member of Faith Lutheran church, Chippewa Falls, WI. Volunteering in many capacities through the years.
She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Genevieve “Gen” (Randy) Schultz of Fredonia; daughter-in-law, Kathie La Grander of Heiskell, TN; four grandchildren, Jake and Holly La Grander, Katie and Josh Schultz; sister-in-law, Linda Weinfurter.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert La Grander; son, Jack La Grander; brother, Robert Weinfurter; and brothers-in-law, Ronny La Grander, Danny La Grander.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 18, at Faith Lutheran Church, 733 Woodward Ave., Chippewa Falls, with a visitation beginning at 9 a.m. at the church. Rev. Daniel Wonderly will be officiating. Interment will follow at Bateman Cemetery, town of Lafayette.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Faith Lutheran Church.
