Carol Fishman was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on February 13, 1936. She graduated from Brookline High School and then from Boston University, with degree in Physical Therapy. She married Dr. Norton Fishman in 1957 and they lived in Norwood, Massachusetts.
Carol practiced Physical Therapy at Children's Hospital, treating mostly polio and cerebral palsy patients. Carol and Norton became devoted and loving parents to four adopted children. When the children were all in school, Carol continued her education and returned to the workforce in Boston as commercial Interior Designer/Space Planner, eventually opening her own firm.
Carol served on the Norwood Conservation Commission for many years and enjoyed participating in the Norwood Curtain Timers and the Norwood Women's Club. She was also a long-time supporter of women's rights and served on a committee for the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts that lead to the opening of the Greater Boston Health Center in Brookline Massachusetts.
Carol was an extremely avid gardener, birder, world traveler, cook, skier, and tennis player. She was also an enthusiastic, perpetual pottery student. Carol enjoyed most of these activities with her husband and best friend, Norton, who passed in 2023. Carol also most graciously gave of her time and energy to advance the field of research into the treatment of geriatric patients and those suffering from Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma and Leukemia, in the hope of improving the care for others.
Carol Fishman leaves behind her children, Scott Fishman, Robin Borgestedt, and Lauren Petrie, as well as her most cherished grandchildren, Alexander, Sarena, Noa, Hanna, Jonah, Eliya, Solomon, and Bobby; her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Thomas; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was also preceded in death by her life-long friend and sister, Phyllis Adler; and her beloved son, Jeffrey Neil Fishman. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jeffrey Neil Fishman Endowment Fund at Boston Children's Hospital.
A graveside service and celebration of Carol's life is being held at Sharon Memorial Park on March 7, 2025 at 12:45 p.m. Friends and family are welcomed to gather at Carol's home in Wayland, Massachusetts afterward.
