With heavy hearts, we share the news of the passing of Carol Ruth Mack, who left us peacefully on November 11, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on August 25, 1931, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Carol lived a life full of love, laughter, and a deep passion for books. A long-time resident of Jennings, Louisiana, she dedicated much of her career to serving as a library clerk, where her love for reading and learning inspired countless visitors.
Carol was a devoted mother to her daughter, Virginia "Ginny" (Dorwin Lynn) Shelton, her sons, Dana Mack, James (Aimee) Mack, Jr., and her daughter in law, Medley McBride. She was a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, leaving behind a legacy of love that includes her grandchildren: Michael (Vickie) Mack, Bryan (Brandie) Mack, Steven Mack, Lindsey (Brian) Mulvany, Rebecca (Steve) Turner, Jeffrey (Rachel) Broussard, Kathleen (Eddy) Rush, Andy (Sarah) Shelton, Rusty (Juli) Shelton, Chris (Terry) Shelton, Cheynne Mack and Bailey Mack. Her great-grandkids-Ethan Mack, Emma Mack, Colson Mack, Morgan Mack, Katelyn Mack, Liam Mack, Olivia Mack, Austin Mulvany, Madyson Mulvany, Virginia (Fern) Lucero, Eddy Rush, Emma Rush, Joshua (Alaina) Turner, Daniel (Maddy) Turner, Caleb (Abi) Turner, Aaron Turner, Ainsley Broussard, Daisy Broussard, William Shelton, Caroline Shelton, Sam (Kelsey) Shelton, Gunner (Catlin) Shelton, Cassidy Keener, and her great-great grandchildren, Eli Boring, Evelynn Lucero, Emmie Lucero, and Cole Shelton-will forever carry her spirit in their hearts.
Carol had a deep affection for hummingbirds and purple martins, often finding joy in observing them flit around her garden. She loved unwinding with a good glass of wine and a game of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and her love for reading and playing games reflected her competitive, curious spirit.
Carol's family will gather to honor her at Miguez Funeral Home on November 12, 2025. A public viewing will take place at 10:30 AM. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM, with burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, James Mack, Sr., her parents, Earl and Bertha Duhon Mack, and her son, Dana Mack.
