HOT SPRINGS - Carol Ann Workman Roy McClelland, 88, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas formerly of Central IL, passed away suddenly from this earth on July 30th, 2025 at 12:43 am CST. Carol was born on June 4th, 1937 at her parents' home in Chatham, IL, to Howard and Edna Workman, and was one of six children. Surviving are four daughters, Melanie (Pat) McNiff of San Dimas, CA; Marcia (Rod) Wanner, of Morton, IL, Michelle Jenkins, of Hopedale, IL, Melissa (Mike) Haas, of South Bend, IN. She is also survived by 12 Grandsons, 2 Granddaughters, 17 Great Grandchildren, her sister Kim Pitchford, sister-in-law Beverly Workman, many nieces, nephews and many long-time friends. Preceding her in death was her devoted husband of 58 years, Richard (Dick) McClelland and their infant identical twin daughter, Martha. Carol was also preceded in death by her first husband, her college sweetheart, Delbert Roy, with whom she had her infant daughter, Melanie. Also preceding her in death were her beloved parents, sisters Jean Loving, Beverly Smith, Nancy Fuchs, brother Ron Workman, and son in law, Michael Jenkins. Carol was simply a beautiful person, both inside and out. Anyone who knew Carol were immediately struck by her beautiful smile and compassionate heart. Besides the Lord, her family was her greatest love and they all knew they could always count on her. She loved going to support her grandchildren in their many activities and let them know they had her support and pride. She was always willing to help others, provide support, empathy and compassion. Carol maintained lifetime friendships and gathered new, lasting friendships wherever she lived. She had seemingly endless energy and considerable talents and skills. Her home was warm and welcoming and simply beautiful for each holiday. She owned and operated a flower shop, Floral Traditions, with daughter, Marcia, and contributed greatly to the success of the Muller Riley McClelland Insurance Agency owned by her and Dick. Carol and Dick served together as committed volunteers for many worthy projects through their retirement years and loved doing whatever was necessary to assist ministries in accomplishing their outreach. As a mother and grandmother, Carol had a strong faith and taught and raised her children to know scripture, read the Bible and seek the Lord as their Savior and Lord. Carol and Dick shared a strong faith and belonged and served at several Methodist churches, most recently, Mountainside Methodist Church in Hot Springs Village, AR, Morton Methodist Church in Morton, IL, and United Methodist Church in Hopedale, IL. Carol and Dick shared their faith with so many people they came to know. Carol continued to have wonderful friendships with her church family, neighbors and Bible study group until the day of her death. Carol donated her body to Genesis of the Medical Education and Research Institute to allow medical students the opportunity to gain knowledge and develop skills to help further their ability to help mankind. Because Carol had so much connection to her friends in Arkansas and family and friends in Illinois, her daughters will be holding two separate Celebrations of Life: On September 9th, 9-11am, the first Celebration will be held at Mountainside Methodist Church in Hot Springs Village, AR. The 2nd Celebration will be held October 11th, 9-noon at Morton Methodist Church. Both will be serving lunch following the services. Memorials may be made in loving support of the ministries of her church. Mountainside Methodist Church. Mostly, Carol would be honored by your choosing to show kindness, encouragement and support to those around you.
