Carol Porter Metternich, our loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the age of 74. She was born September 23, 1950, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Oscar Loyd Porter and Katie Carol Barnes Porter. She had a successful career with Hancock Bank, retiring after 26 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 19 years, Raymond M. Metternich; beloved son, Christopher M. Metternich; and brother, Jack L. Porter. Carol is survived by her devoted daughter and best friend, Mary Katherine Metternich Moore; and her adoring grandchildren Sage Brumley (Madelyn), Alexa Rae Metternich, Harper Katelynn Moore, Dylan Lapeyrouse, Gage Moore, Skylar Degraw and Logan Degraw; and great-granddaughter, Blaire Juliette Brumley. Carol is also survived by her brother J. Richard Porter; her daughter-in-law, Lisa U. Lapeyrouse (Kevin); her son-in-law, Tony Moore; and sisters-in-law, Ann F. Porter and Susan M. Kuhn (Randy); and special family members, Jim and Colette Mitchell and Austin and Courtney Degraw; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to thank the paramedics with Acadian Ambulance and the doctors and nurses in the emergency room at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge.
Carol enjoyed crafting, cross-stitching and taking photos, but nothing made her happier than spending time with her family and grandchildren. While we will always have wanted more time, we will cherish the many memories made, laughs shared and forever hold them close to our hearts.
