Carol Ann Miller passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025 in Santa Clara, CA with her two daughters, Laura and Julie, by her side.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she received a master's degree in Social Work from the University of St. Louis and upon graduation she was recruited to work at Agnew's State Hospital in Santa Clara, CA. Her professional career in public mental health with Santa Clara County spanned 33 years as a L.C.S.W, she helped countless people from all walks of life.
While a member of a church choir in Sunnyvale, she met her future husband Dennis Lewandowski, a fellow choir member. They married and moved to Bad Aibling, Germany, after the birth of their first daughter, Laura. After five years, they returned to their house on Bellwood Drive in Santa Clara, where Julie was born.
After her divorce, Carol eventually moved to a wonderful house in San Jose where she was a thriving member of the community, playing piano at various churches in the Bay Area including the Mission Church at Santa Clara University. She was part of a book club at the Rose Garden Library and a very active volunteer for the Democratic Party.
Carol is survived by her daughters Laura (Aaron Ritchey) Lewandowski, Julie (Dan) Nelson; her grandchildren Asha and Ella Ritchey, Phillip and Leanna Nelson; and, her eldest sister Sr. Thomas (Dorothy) Kundmueller, OSF.
Carol is predeceased by her parents Andrew Thomas Kundmueller (1992) and Julia Anne Kundmueller (1984); her siblings Thomas Andrew Miller (2010), Robert Valentine Kundmueller (1990), Arthur Clement Kundmueller (2019), Anita Ruth Freeman (2024), and Dolores Anne (1936). She is also predeceased by her former husband, Dennis Lewandowski (2021).
Family and friends are invited to Carol's funeral service at the Darling & Fischer Memorial Chapel (213 East Campbell Avenue,
