Carol Montague Obituary
Carol D. Montague, 71, of Newburgh formerly Princeton, IN was called Home to the Lord Wednesday, June 26, 2024. She was born August 4, 1952 in Princeton, IN to the late Delbert and Alma (Hardiman) Jones. Carol attended Princeton High School and was in the graduating class of 1970. She attended the House of James Beauty School and professionally did hair for 25+ years, but continued doing family and friends' hair throughout her life. Carol additionally taught hair for Ed Hart's Hart to Hart hair school. She furthered her education by earning a degree in Early Childhood Education. Carol worked 20 years as a director of early childhood education for CAPE before retiring in 2020. She was a lifelong member of Lyles Station Waymen Chaple AME, but also attended New Life Church of the Nazarene in Princeton. Carol took great pride in showing her love through her amazing cooking and always made sure everyone was well fed. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was known as the family organizer. To say Carol loved being fashionable would be an understatement; she had a wonderfully designed wardrobe with the trendiest clothing and shoes anyone could find. Carol was always interested in trying new things and experiences. Some of those experiences let her to travel in and outside the USA. She liked attending and watching sporting events; including following Steph Curry, Jackie Young, and The Warriors. Carol will be remembered as a loving mother, special sister, caring aunt, and loyal friend. She is loved deeply and will be missed.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Gwendolyn Bright, Bryan Jones, and Sonya Pritchett; brother-in-law's, Dan Hall and Barry Wayne Pritchett Sr.; and yorkie dog, Scooter.
She is survived by her daughter, Gwendolyn (Olivia) Montague; siblings, Brenda Hall and Brent (Laura) Jones; siblings-in-law, Vicki Jones and John Bright; ex-husband and lifelong friend, Tim Montague; her aunt, Pauline Smith; a host of nieces and nephews including, Corwin Bright, Bryan Leon Jones II, Jared Jones, Justin Jones, Tara Knapp Jones, Chloe Jones, Kristin Hardiman, Ashley Hardiman, Erica Hardiman, Breann Hardiman, Kurt Pritchett, Barry Pritchett II., Jordyn Langley, Reghan Jones, Naomi Jones, and Calli Rose Jones.
The funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, June 30, 2024 at New Life Church of the Nazarene in Princeton officiated by Pastor Donnie Truelock. Interment will follow at Sandhill Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until service time at the church on Sunday. For those who wish, memorial contributions can be given to Susan G. Komen, envelopes will be available at the church.
