Carol Diane Murphy

Carol Diane Murphy, 71, of Girard, died at 1:46 p.m., Friday, November 24, 2023 in the Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.
Carol was born January 1, 1952 in Parsons, a daughter of Lawrence and Virginia (McElwain) Murphy.
She grew up in rural Girard and attended Girard schools.
Carol married Charles L. Yoho on May 2, 1971 at the United Methodist Church in Girard. They later divorced and remained friends.
Carol worked as a bookkeeper at Producer's Coop in Girard from 1972 until retiring in 2009.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Girard and she enjoyed her family, working on the farm, gardening, cooking, fishing, playing board games and playing Skip Bo with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Dr. Jennifer Yoho, and Mike, of Girard and Beth Newkirk, and her husband, Jason, of Girard; her grandchildren Steven Sumner, Kyler Newkirk, Kenzie Newkirk, Kelci Holt; her great-granddaughter Finley Holt; her sister, Betty Gates, and her husband, Charlie, of Ringo; her brothers, Calvin Murphy, and his wife, Cathy, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Don Murphy of Girard, Richard Murphy, and his wife, Ramona, of Girard; her sister-in-law, Helen Murphy of Girard; numerous nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Marvin Murphy, on April 28, 2016.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday November 29th at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Pastor Rick Prideaux officiating. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday November 28th at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home where friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday.
