Carol Mae (Sorbo) Ness, born August 2, 1937, in Sharon, ND, to Clarence and Olga (Kilen) Sorbo. Carol grew up in Sharon and graduated from high school in 1955. She continued her education at Mayville State Teachers College. Carol met Ronald Ness while she was attending Mayville State. They got married on August 18, 1963, in Sharon, ND. Together they adopted their son, Marc Christian, in October of 1970. Over the years, Carol’s passion for teaching gave her great joy, and she took pride in her work as an educator for the next 42 years. Her former students still tell stories of how Carol was their favorite teacher and made learning fun. Retirement gave her more time to cherish with family and friends and spent over 25 winters in Arizona. She enjoyed gardening, and spending time at the lake and water skiing. She and Ron loved to travel and were fortunate to have taken many trips and adventures through every state in the USA. She also loved to sing and play piano with her sisters; they were known as the Famous Sorbo Sisters. Carol was looked up to by her nieces who referred to her as their “Silly Aunt Carol”. She loved her grandsons and enjoyed everything about being a grandma. Rarely did she miss a sporting activity or concert of theirs. She loved having them over for sleepovers, going on adventures, and having them out to visit in Arizona. She will be dearly missed.

Carol is survived by her husband, Ron; son, Marc (Lisa) Ness; grandsons, Connor and Marshall Ness; brothers-in-law, Jack Kern and Loren Bjerke; nieces and nephews, Mardi (Perry) Eidem, Scott (Laura) Bjerke, Lynda Lee Sorbo, Paula (Johnny) Kayler, and Joni Dammen; as well as other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Olga; brothers, Warren “Jake”, Darlyn, Marlow “Mike”, Clair Lee and Ronald “Tiny”; sisters, Joann Dammen, Lorrette Bristow and Mary Kern; and sister-in-law, Jean Bjerke.

Visitation will be Friday, January 9, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM, followed by the Celebration of Life service at 1:00 PM, in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
