Age 87, of Morris, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 3, 2025, at The Pointe in Morris.
Born on December 28, 1937, in Los Angeles, California, Carol was a daughter of Belmore and Irene (Schmeckpeper) Jones.
She spent many years as a cherished resident of Elliot Manor in Morris, where she built lasting friendships and touched the lives of many with her warmth and compassion. Carol was also a dedicated member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Morris, where her faith was a central part of her life. She attended regularly and found great comfort and inspiration in worship, fellowship, and scripture. Carol found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She especially loved working on jigsaw puzzles, patiently piecing them together with care and attention. She loved her family, and everyone knew that it was an important piece to life's puzzle.
Carol is survived by her son, Craig (Amy) Newman; two grandsons: Riley and Justin Newman; sisters: Sharon Erikson, Bonnie (Ken) Sanders, and Mary (James) Fannin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Lori Greene and Susan "Susie" McKay; brother, Roland Jones.
Memorials may be made as gifts in Carol's name to Our Savior Lutheran Church (www.illinoislutheranconference.org).
Per Carol's wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Fruland Funeral Home (121 West Jefferson Street) in Morris, on Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Dale Schilling from Our Savior Lutheran Church will be officiating. Following the services Carol will be laid to rest at Sample Cemetery in Morris at a later date.
