Age 79 of Morris, Illinois, died on December 8, 2025 at Serenity of Morris.
Born on February 17, 1946, in Morris, Illinois, Richard Albert Henry was the son of Albert Henry and Marjorie Lucille (Hansen) Scaman. He grew up in Morris and graduated from Morris Community High School with the Class of 1964.
A lifelong farmer in Saratoga Township, Richard devoted 58 years to the land before his retirement. He took great pride in his work and was a member of the Illinois Farm Bureau. Beyond farming, he found joy in the outdoors, especially fishing. For more than 25 years, he looked forward to annual fishing trips to Canada, a tradition that brought him deep happiness and lasting memories.
Richard treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren. To those who knew him, he will be remembered as an easy-going, genuinely kind man who was honest, dependable, and always true to his word.
His legacy lives on in the family he loved and the land he faithfully tended.
Survivors include his three children: Carrie Scaman of McComb, Illinois, Rick (Danielle) Scaman of Newark, Illinois and Brian (Shelly) Scaman of Jacksonville, Illinois; four grandchildren: Randee (Steven) Nance, Lucas Scaman, Garret Scaman and Paige Scaman; three great grandchildren: Makenzie, Lilith and Aubriella, and two sisters: Judy Hausken-Zink of Morris and Joan (Bill) Hoge of Lakeland, Florida, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister. Joyce Riley.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at Fruland Funeral Home, 121 West Jefferson Street in Morris on Friday, December 19, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral service, 11:30 a.m. Pastor Steve Lombardo from Village Bible Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Morris. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be: Rick Scaman, Brian Scaman, Lucas Scaman, Garret Scaman, Paige Scaman, Lupe Salinas, Adam Salinas and Matt Betsworth.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Richard's memory to his family for their distribution.
