She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Alfonse; her son, Alfonse, a Port Authority Police Officer who perished on 9/11; her son-in-law, Brian; her brothers, Charlie (Kathy), Jackie (Peggy), and sister, Jeannie (Richard).
Carol is survived by her daughter, Denise; sons, Richard (Sina) and Jack (Daniela); daughter-in-law, Nancy (Steve); and grandchildren, Amanda, AJ, Angelica, Stephanie, RJ, Joseph, Emma, Erica, and Jack. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews who will cherish her memory.
Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1938, Carol moved with her family to Bayside in 1940. She attended St. Kevin's Grammar School in Flushing and St. Mary's High School in Manhasset. It was during her high school years that she met her beloved husband, Al, and together they attended the St. Mary's Senior Prom at the Swan Club. After high school, Carol attended Misericordia University. She married her beloved husband, Al, in May 1960, and together they raised four children in her childhood home. Years later, while balancing family and work, Carol returned to her studies and in 1983 earned an associate degree in applied science with a concentration in business and real estate from Queensborough Community College.
Carol welcomed everyone into her home. She loved to entertain and graciously hosted the entire family for dinners and holidays. The family spent many joyful seasons at their summer home in Sullivan County, where Carol and Al treasured time with their grandchildren and extended family.
In 1979, at the suggestion of a neighbor, Carol applied for and secured a position as a secretary with the phone company, AT&T, at a local office in Fresh Meadows. She was quickly transferred to an office in the city, where her leadership and determination led her to become a Purchasing Manager. During this time, Carol earned the newly established designation of Certified Purchasing Manager and was selected as a featured employee in company materials showcasing opportunities and career advancement for women. In that role, Carol had the opportunity to travel for work, often meeting Al in the city she was visiting once business concluded. Carol and Al cherished their routines together. After long days in the city, they would often meet at Farrell's in Bayside where the waitress would happily greet them and immediately serve them a draft beer in a pilsner glass. Carol had a deep appreciation for beautiful things, delicious food, and a well-made Tom Collins, enjoying life's pleasures with grace and gratitude.
Carol accomplished all of this in her career while remaining deeply devoted to her family, hosting gatherings and holidays, and always finding time to nurture her hobbies. An intellectual at heart, Carol was an avid reader who expressed her creativity through poetry and found serenity on her porch upstate, surrounded by the sounds of nature with her adored cat Lovely by her side.
Carol was a deeply spiritual person who held her faith close. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a devoted member of the Ave Maria Guild at Saint Joseph's Parish in Wurtsboro, NY. Above all, she was a selfless and loving woman who dedicated her life to her faith and family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and grace.
