Carol Joy Nohr, age 78, of Manawa, passed away at home on December 18, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer. Carol was born on March 5, 1945 to the late Edmund and Doris (Luther) Abrahamson in Waupaca County. Carol was united in marriage to Raymond Nohr on July 27, 1974 in New London.
Carol graduated from Little Wolf High School in Manawa in 1963. She graduated from UW-Platteville in 1973 with a degree in Education. Carol was an elementary school teacher at various schools in Wisconsin, including the School District of Manawa. She continued to substitute teach as well as tutor children after she retired. She was also a Sunday School Teacher at the United Methodist Church in Waupaca for a time. In addition, Carol volunteered with Waupaca County 4-H as a fair superintendent for several years.
Carol enjoyed traveling and visited many states and provinces throughout her life. She was an avid football fan of several NFL teams, and enjoyed watching NASCAR. Carol loved listening to music and attended many concerts. She also liked to garden, tend her many houseplants, knit, draw, and spend time with her cats.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Nohr. Carol is survived by her daughter, Monica Nohr, Rice Lake; brother, Duane (Catherine) Abrahamson, Manawa; and sister Susan (Duane) Arndt, Manawa. Carol is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Funeral Service for Carol will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Dahlke Life Celebration Center in Manawa with Rev. Dr. Chris Chiyong Oh officiating. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery, Town of Little Wolf. A visitation for Carol will be held prior to the service on Friday from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM.
