Carol Nordmeyer Obituary
Carol M. Nordmeyer , age 89, of Beavercreek, passed away on October 7, 2024. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on February 24, 1935, the daughter of the late Maurice and Lillian Van Kavelaar.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Ret. Lt. Col. James William Nordmeyer, Sr.; and her siblings, Lillian Van Kavelaar, Michael Van Kavelaar and Bobby Van Kavelaar.
Carol is survived by her loving children, Kathy Nordmeyer, Jim (Melissa) Nordmeyer, John (Liz Marino) Nordmeyer, Dan (Terri) Nordmeyer, Marie (Bill) Kralik, Steven (Lisa) Nordmeyer and Will (Angela) Nordmeyer;
grandchildren, Eric, Ann, Marley, Emma, Andrew, Justin, Jeff, Katie, Elisa, Jackie and James; numerous great grandchildren; brother, David (Bette) Van Kavelaar; and her sister, Milli Kahn.
She retired as a Registered Nurse and later in life worked as a Hospital Chaplain in the Dayton area, where she touched many lives. She was a member of Mary, Help of Christians and St. Luke's Catholic Church for many years. In her free time, she enjoyed world travel, trivia, playing games (often cheating her way through!) and spending time with her family. Carol had a great sense of humor, as evidenced by her response to the Priest offering the Sacraments, "I am too old to have committed any sins!". She also had a great love of reading and History. Her faith was something she held in very high esteem, she was a "true model of faith". She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held from 9:30am-10:30am, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at St. Luke Catholic Church, 1440 N. Fairfield Rd., Beavercreek, where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30am. Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 9:00am, at Dayton National Cemetery, where she will rejoin her beloved husband.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Red Cross in her honor (link is available below).
