WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, MI - Carol Jeane Rekar, age 82, of Washington Township, MI, beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed away on October 6, 2025, at UP Health System in Marquette, MI, surrounded by love.
Born in Detroit, MI, on June 14, 1943, the daughter of Lloyd and Friedelda (Hamann) Solomon. Carol was raised in Fair Haven and she was a proud graduate of Algonac High School, Class of 1961. Shortly after she married Lawrence Rekar and together they built a home and raised a beautiful family in Fair Haven. Carol devoted her life to caring for others as a homemaker where her love and dedication to her family was unwavering and evident in all she did.
Carol's greatest joys in life were her family, her community and attending church. One of her greatest passions was an avid sports fan. She rarely missed a Detroit Tigers or Detroit Lions game. She found happiness in cooking, hosting holiday gatherings, traveling, casino slot machines and especially spending time with her cherished grandchildren. Her warmth and generosity extended far beyond her home; Carol was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Fair Haven and was always eager to lend a helping hand or simply listen with compassion. Those who knew Carol remember her as caring, patient and endlessly kind. She had a gift for making others feel seen and heard and she never had a bad word to say about anyone. Her gentle spirit and loving heart left a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.
Carol is survived by her loving sons: Larry (Christine) Rekar of Holland, MI, and Robert (Tracey) Rekar of Indian Harbour Beach, FL; her grandchildren: Madison (Joe Fortucci) Rekar, Raquel Rekar, Larry (Liz) Rekar, Hunter Rekar, Sydney Rekar and Robbie Rekar. She is also lovingly remembered by her significant other Raymond Martin and his children: Theresa (David) Lee and Ted Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence and her siblings: Lloyd, Leo, June, Robert, Harry, Del, and Mark.
Honoring Carol's request, no public services will be held.
