Carol Lee Ross was born in Whittier, CA on December 24, 1933 and died on July 31, 2025 at the age of 91. She lived at Bonaventure of Puyallup, an Assisted Living facility.
Carol fought the good flight before succumbing to COPD.
Her parents, Hap and Therese Caraway, raised three children, with Carol being the oldest. She also had a sister, Joy and a brother, Bill. At 16 years of age, she fell in love and secretly married
a young Marine from Camp Pendleton, Don Wright. They had two children, Ronald and Louise. With Carol's husband being a union electrician, the family traveled to various states for work. Carol was a stay at home mom raising her children. After settling in Puyallup, Washington, the couple divorced.
A second marriage to Clarence Cruzan created a blended family with Rick Cruzan and Sharon Feller. Carol worked full time as a grocery clerk. After a few years, she became widowed. Later, Carol remarried to Pete Ross. When Pete became the National President for the Fleet Reserve, he and Carol traveled extensively taking them to various countries including Korea, England, China, Africa, South America and many trips to Washington D.C. The two were married for over 20 years until Pete passed away in 2003 from cancer. Carol loved traveling and continued to do so with close friends, Nancy Ellis and Mary Vincent, attending music festivals in the northwest and becoming groupies following Chris Anderson wherever he performed.
Crocheting was a love of Carol's and she spent a lot of time making washcloths and towels to give to friends and family. She will always be remembered for saying " I'm going to live until 104! I have too much crocheting to do!"
She is survived by daughter, Louise Duffy and spouse, Skip Duffy, stepdaughter, Sharon Feller, stepson, Rick Cruzan and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for Carol Lee Ross will be held on Friday, October 3 at Fir Lane Memorial Park. 924 176th Street East, Spanaway, WA
