Carol V. Salm, age 85, of Valders, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025 at Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Carol was born January 22, 1940 in Kiel, daughter of the late Vincent and Loretta (Nett) Walsdorf. She attended school in Kiel and graduated with the class of 1958 from Kiel High School. On August 17, 1963 she married Edgar Salm at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chilton. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills, the choir and Christian Mothers. She was a member of the Kiel and Chilton marching band. She enjoyed her flower garden, traveling with her bowling team, and was a volunteer cook at Silverlake College and Camp Tapawingo. She loved holding her grandchildren and great grandchildren and playing cards. Carol and her husband Edgar owned and operated MarCal's Too restaurant in Valders.
She is survived by her husband: Edgar Salm, Valders; 6 children: Christine Schneider (Jim Presley), AZ, Diane Bonde, Kiel, Robert Salm, Valders, Lori and Robert Scheffler, Valders, Daniel Salm, Manitowoc, and Maria (Sean) Fitzsimons, WA; 13 grandchildren: Amanda (Matt) Podgorski, CO, Ashley (Shae) Callewaert, OR, Cory (Brittney) Bonde, New Holstein, Allyson (Brayden) Burbee, WA, Brandon Bonde, Oshkosh, Eva Salm, Valders, Vincent Salm, Valders, Garrett Scheffler, Kimberly, Andrea Scheffler, Suamico, Cameron Scheffler, Valders, Aurora Fitzsimons, Kimberly, Margaret Fitzsimons, WA, and Daniel Fitzsimons, WA; 3 great grandchildren; 1 brother and 3 sisters-in-law: Edward (Judy) Walsdorf, Kiel, Florence Walsdorf, New Holstein, and Hazel Walsdorf, Kiel;2 brothers-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law: Raymond Salm, Campbellsport, Barbara (Perry) Wood, MN, Louie (Sandy) Salm, NM, and Mary Bartel, Waukesha; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She is preceded in death by her parents: Vincent and Loretta Walsdorf; 1 son: Richard Salm; 2 brothers: Charles Walsdorf and Nicholas Walsdorf; 3 sisters and brothers-in-law: Audrey (Frank) Kueler, Rose (Ed) Price, and Dorothy (Leroy) Schad; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: John (Lucille) Salm, Dorothy (Arvin) Halbach, Vincent (Jean) Salm, Margaret (Melvin) Reinl, William (Norma) Salm, Teresa (Ronald) Weed, Martin (Margie) Salm, Fran (Richard) Manning, Kathy Salm, Larry Salm, Sister Bernadette Salm, and Gary Bartel.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills, Rev. Richard Klingeisen will celebrate the Mass of Christian burial. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the time of mass at 11:00 am. Burial of her cremated remains will follow at the church cemetery.
