Carol L. Schettler, 79, was called to her heavenly home on September 20th, 2013 after a 3 month battle with cancer. She was born on October 26, 1933 in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late William and Margaret (Skoglund) Uren and has been a lifelong resident of the area. Carol graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1951. She married Donald Schettler in 1955 and shared 57 precious years together before he preceded her in death on December 24, 2012. Carol worked at many firms in the area (Medical Center, Bacco Construction, Farm Service, etc…). They raised three children and spent much time traveling together. They shared their faith together at Grace Baptist Church in Kingsford and valued the friendship of their church family. Carol treasured her relationships with her many special friends and appreciated their loving support in her time of need. She spent much of her time enjoying family activities, particularly watching her childrens' and grandchildrens' performances and sporting events. Carol is survived by her Children, Robert (Sherry) Schettler of Ixonia, WI; Thomas (Teresa) Schettler of Iron Mountain; Sandy (Tim) Finch of Mission Viejo, CA; Brother: William (Marie) Uren of Iron Mountain; Sisters: Ann (David) Bolander of Kingsford; Linda (Wayne) Makela of Iron Mountain; Lita (William) Bengtson of Quinesec; Grandchildren: Stephen Schettler, Stephanie (Eric) Cumming, Taylor Jo & Trevor Schettler, and Allison, Andrea & JC Finch. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by her son James Donald (1960), brother Donald and sister Janet. Visitation will be on Friday September 27th, 2013 from 9:00-11:30am at the Grace Baptist Church in Kingsord. Funeral services will immediately follow, at 11 :30am at the church. Pastor Wynne Kimbrough of Grace Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory supporting the Dickinson County Cancer Unit Loan Closet (DCCLC).
