Carol A. Shoemaker

Carol A. (Mundell) Shoemaker, 86, of West Lafayette passed away Friday, December 26, 2025, at IU Health Arnett Hospital.

She was born February 13, 1939, in Tipton County to the late Lawrence and Kathleen (Foutch) Mundell. She was a graduate of Forest High School and earned her master's degree in Deaf Education from Ball State University and worked as a Speech and Hearing Therapist for Bluffton, Wabash, and Oak Hill School Corporations. On June 11, 1961, she married David C. Shoemaker and he survives.

Along with her husband, David, she is survived by her 2 children, Lynda (Scott) Wagoner of Archdale, NC and Todd (Janette) Shoemaker of Verona, WI; 4 grandchildren, Erin (Avery Monsen) Wagoner of Richmond, CA, Chad (Katie Broadwell) Wagoner of Knoxville, TN; Haley Shoemaker of Chicago, IL; and Cameron Shoemaker of Milwaukee, WI; a great granddaughter, Maisie Monsen of Richmond, CA; and sister-in-law, Pat Mundell, Marion, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Kathleen Mundell and a brother, Robert Mundell.

She was a member of The Grove Covenant Church, and she enjoyed bible studies, singing and small groups.

She and Dave enjoyed being a member of the John Purdue Club and attending Purdue Volleyball, Baseball and Mens and Womens Basketball. She always looked forward to the Purdue Christmas show.
Carol enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends, reading and was a life-time sewer.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 10, 2026, followed by a luncheon at The Grove Covenant Church, 3600 S. 9th St., Lafayette, IN 47909 with Pastor Doug Shoemaker officiating. Family will greet visitors following the service.

Interment will be held later in the spring at the IOOF Pennville Cemetery in Pennville, IN.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Purdue Institute For Cancer Research and The Grove Covenant Church.
