Carol Muenster Simms, 67, of Salisbury, Maryland, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 13, 2025, with loved ones by her side.
Born and raised in Salisbury, Carol was a lifelong Eastern Shore resident with a deep love for her family, her community, and the people she served throughout her more than 35-year nursing career. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Salisbury State University. She received a senatorial scholarship her freshman year and never stopped proving herself from there.
Carol's former colleagues remember her as a fierce patient advocate - the kind of nurse who gave only the best care to others. Her work was her calling, and she brought compassion and tenacity to everything she did.
She was a deeply creative person who loved to cook, read, and garden, and she did all three with intention and heart.
To her children's friends growing up, Carol's home was "that house." The place with the open door and warm food, the one where everyone felt welcome. To many, she was a second mom - especially to Ashley Nicole White, whom she loved dearly, and who was present with her daughter when Carol passed.
She is survived by her daughter, Kara Lucy Simms; son, Kelsey Robert Simms; her mother, Patricia Muenster Christiana; her stepfather, Gerald Arthur Christiana; and her father, Donald Robert Muenster. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Cynthia "Cindy" Lynn Muenster, and her grandparents, John and Helen Saren, whom she cherished deeply.
Carol adored her yellow lab, Zoe, who passed many years ago and was never quite replaced. She was also a longtime supporter and member of the ASPCA, a testament to her deep love for animals and the kindness she extended to every living being, human or otherwise.
She loved her children deeply and often referred to her daughter as her "angel." And for those who knew her, that word goes both ways.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Holloway Funeral Home, Salisbury. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you hold your loved ones close, offer kindness freely, and consider a donation in Carol's memory to the ASPCA - or simply honor her by showing up for others, the way she always did.
