CAROL FRANCES (GLESSNER) SMART
Of North Braddock formerly of Chalfant, age 75, died after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on January 3, 2025. Daughter of the late Joseph M. Glessner and the late Dorothy M. (Brown)Glessner. Carol was proceeded in death by her best friend and husband Patrick F. Smart Sr and son Michael Smart.
Carol is survived by two daughters Michelle Smart, Kelly (Rob) Dixon, daughter-in-law Raina Smart and son Patrick (Amy) Smart. Loving grandma of Kaleena (Ryan), Jimmy, Kayla (Seth), Quinn, Michael, Dontae, Robert, Arianna, and Ryan. Carol was the great grandma (Mal Mal) of Jadyn, Mariah, Journey, and Ryan Jr.
Dear sister of Joseph (Jeannie) Glessner, Georgia Andelmo, Mary 'Midge" Lauer, John (Rose)Glessner, Robert "Rob" (Patty) Glessner and William "Bill" (Terri) Glessner. Carol adored her nieces and nephews.
Carol was a loving and dedicated caregiver who spent her life caring for family and friends. Everyone was welcome at her home for a meal, a talk, or a hug. She loved holidays with her family, especially Christmas Eve. Her family meant everything to Carol.
Michael, Carol's grandson was her primary caregiver for 2 ½ years, without him she would have not been able to remain at home. Kaleena, her granddaughter was not only her "Gram's" Medical Power of Attorney, but her "partner in crime."
Carol was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan, loved to go to the casino and was a long-time member of VFW Post 5008. Her smile and laugh were contagious.
There will be no services because Carol chose to have a "living wake." She had a party to celebrate her life. The theme was "Live every moment, Laugh every day, and Love beyond words." She was able to enjoy her party with her family and close friends.
