Carol Somerville was born on November 29, 1944 in Emery County, Utah to Genevieve Brewster Somerville and William Henrie Somerville. She went home to be with her parents on 2nd November 2025.
Carol was a faithful and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served an Honorable Full-Time Mission in Seattle, Washington where she loved to teach and preach the gospel. Carol was an accomplished landscaper, gardener, CNA and could always be found sharing her skills and knowledge with anyone in need. She had many hobbies to include photography, hanging out with her grandkids and learning of family genealogy, and making people laugh. There is nothing that could top the joy Carol felt when grabbing her crochet needles and sewing machine or heading out to hunt or garden in the yard.
She had an unrelenting passion and love for the outdoors and helping people. Her love was endless and she would give anything to see a smile on someone's face, especially her grandchildren. One could often find her sitting in her room at 3:00 am crocheting and sewing some quilts and blankets for people and eating Milky Ways, hiding them and always saying I'm not eating candy, then laugh. She was usually working on projects for someone else. There was no project or problem that she didn't know how to solve. Carol was a talker and loved to share the stories of her life and those of her younger days. She loved to make me smile. Her favorite quote was "when you can't find the sunshine be the sunshine". She will be missed dearly by many friends and family.
She is survived by daughter, Mariah Beckstead of Saratoga Springs; sons, Carl Beckstead of Salt Lake; and Justin Beckstead and wife, Autumn Kanon Beckstead of Salt Lake; sister, Sharlene Rurup of South Jordan; brother, Dennis Somerville and wife Linda of Murray, Utah; and 5 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Henrie Somerville and Genevieve Brewster Somerville; sister, Gayla Kay Somerville; and brothers, Dale Somerville and Terry Somerville.
There will be a viewing held on Thursday, 6th November 2025 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Midas Creek 7th Ward at 10860 South 3200 West, South Jordan, Utah.
Services will be held on 7th November 2025 at the Midas Creek 7th Ward at 10860 South 3200 West, South Jordan, Utah. A viewing will begin one hour prior at 9:00-9:45 am, with funeral services beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will immediately follow at the South Jordan Cemetery.
