Carol Jean Southworth, 79, of South Beloit, Illinois, passed away at her home on Thursday, September 28, 2023, surrounded by her family.
The former Carol Jean Holman was born on March 29, 1944, in Chicago Illinois, the daughter of Howard and Lila (Jarvis) Holman.
After moving to Beloit, Wisconsin, Carol attended Beloit Memorial High School. She married William Swanson on October 28, 1961, the father of her four children. She met Harlan Wallace Southworth in 1978 and they married on October 4, 1991. Carol was employed at Shopko and Osco in Beloit, Electro Cam in Rockton, Illinois, and lastly at McDonalds in Beloit.
Carol enjoyed taking bus trip excursions to various casinos in the Midwest, scratch-off lottery tickets, playing Spooky-Spins, spending Sunday mornings with family and friends at The Rock Restaurant. She enjoyed her front porch visits with her neighbors and friends. Carol was an avid sports fan. She loved watching her Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Chicago Cubs. Carol was also known to enjoy having a glass of wine every now and again. You couldn't be at the Southworth Home without hearing some bickering and bantering between Carol and her beloved spouse, Harlan.
Carol is survived by her husband, Harlan; children, Mark Swanson, Kristy (Donald) McDonald, Harlan (Sally) Southworth, Brian (Bridgette) Swanson, and Bret (Carey) Swanson; grandchildren, Alexa (Jacob) Girard, Paige Swanson, Cierra Southworth, Brianne Swanson, Sam Southworth, and Brynn Swanson; great-grandchildren, Everly and Jameson Girard; siblings, Judy Rohr, and Gerald Kamlager; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
