Lenon was born on Wednesday, May 14, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Lenon and Matilda (Holmes) Carpenter, Sr. In 1973, he graduated from Riznorr High School in Chicago, Illinois. On April 27, 2013, Lenon married the former Josette Lorelle (Smith) Cooper in Rockford, Illinois.
Lenon worked in the maintenance department at Motorola Corporation for over twenty years. He enjoyed being with his family and friends, painting, photography, and riding his motorcycle until his health no longer aloud him to do so. Lenon was a collector of anything and everything, but he mostly collected cameras, lenses, and tripods.
Lenon is survived by his wife, Josette; father, Lenon Carpenter, Sr; children, Lenon Carpenter III, Kristina Carpenter, Tanisha (Michael) Patterson, Niquisha (Marcell) Burns, Ruben "AJ" (Tabatha) Cooper, and Malachi Carpenter; ninteen grandchildren; siblings, Leon (Shirley) Carpenter, Barbara Neal, Terry Darnell Carpenter, Scott Carpenter, and Anthony Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his mother, Matilda Carpenter; and a grandson, Elijah Carpenter.
