In Loving Memory of Carol Grace (Spinney) Spinney
June 4, 1941 - March 24, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Carol Grace (Spinney) Spinney, who went home to be with her lord on Monday, March 24, 2025, in the comfort of her home. She was 83 years old.
Carol was born on June 4, 1941, in Worcester, Massachusetts, to Burpee Clyde and Bertha Maude (Chambers) Spinney. She was the youngest of two children and was lovingly cared for by her older brother, Alden Clarke Spinney. Carol married the love of her life, Willard Spurgeon Spinney, and they shared 41 beautiful years together. She now joins her parents, brother, and husband in heaven.
Carol's life was defined by her unwavering faith and her desire to serve others. She graduated from TA Norris High School in Peace River, Alberta, Canada, in 1959. Her family had moved there to serve alongside Rev. Douglas Spinney and Herman Spinney in ministry to the community and the Cree Indians. Following High School, Carol studied at Bible school and later pursued nursing while living in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Carol's greatest passion was to "Love God and love others." Her servants heart was evident in everything she did--from going on mission trips and supporting missionaries, to caring for babies in the nursery and actively participating in her walking and exercise classes. One of her greatest joys was working in the Wordless Book Ministry, sharing the message of salvation with young hearts.
Her ministry extended far beyond the walls of the church. Carol was known for her legendary baking skills, especially her cookies. No one left her home empty handed--neighbors, friends, and even police officers patrolling her street would be blessed with a bag of her delicious treats. Carol's heart for giving was matched only by her faithfulness in prayer. She lived out her life verse, Proverbs 3:5-6:
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path"
Carol's greatest joy, however, was her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her six children, seventeen grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren. She loved them deeply and prayed for them constantly.
Carol's life will be celebrated on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Starkey Road Baptist Church, 8800 Starkey Road, Largo, FL. Following the service, a cookie reception will be held, where all are encouraged to share their favorite memories of Carol and the joy she brought to their lives.
In Lieu of flowers, Carol's wish was for donations to be made to missions through Starkey Road Baptist Church, a cause that was near and dear to her heart.
Carol's kindness, singing, wisdom, love, cookies, and sense of humor touched the lives of all who knew her. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts.
