A Mass of Christian Burial for Carol Jean Ucker, 93, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, December 19, 2023, with Fr. Anthony Lonzo as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Carol died at SharonBrooke Senior Living Center on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. She was born in Newark, Ohio on July 22, 1930, to the late Joseph S. and Florence Sylvia (Martin) Kanes.
Carol grew up in Little Texas and attended St. Francis de Sales High School. She was a lifelong parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament and member of the Marian Club, St. Girard Society and the PIME Ladies Guild.
She was an avid gardener, enjoyed golf, and participated in many euchre and card clubs.
Carol is survived by her daughters, Connie (Thad) Nutter and Molly (John) Cormican; niece, Bonnie (Mike) Scott; Grandchildren, Michael (Robyn) Cormican, Joseph (Meghan) Cormican, Jacob (Janine) Cormican, Quinn Nutter, and Emma Nutter.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Ucker, sister Annie (John) Jones; infant brother, George; and nieces and nephews, Robert, Jackie Jones, and Mary Ann (Jones) Cummings.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and residents of SharonBrooke for the exceptional care, friendship, and love Carol experienced during her stay.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the charity of your choice.
