Carol B. Vance, age 79, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola, MS.
Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Indianola City Cemetery in Indianola, MS with Rev. Matthew Morgan officiating. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
Carol was born June 12, 1945 to the late Robert Lee Bullock and Pearlie Minerva West Bullock in Sweet Water, AL. She was the youngest of 14 siblings. Her Bible was her most valuable possession. Carol was always involved with her church and community. Whether it be Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, bookkeeping, cleaning, cooking, choir, or the nursery, she was willing to lend a helping hand. Carol was a much needed and respected Financial Officer for Sunflower School District for many years. She received her education from Delta State University. She was a participant of Prison Fellowship Ministry at Parchman Women's Prison. She showered them in God's Word and as many of their favorite foods she could load in her car. Carol was a theologian of the Bible. No matter how exhausted she was in the evenings, she would attend theology classes to better understand the Bible.
Carol selflessly gave of her time, food, money, care, fellowship and never required anything in return. She loved the Lord and helping others. She truly loved her family. She always prayed for those in need around her whether it be family, friends, or strangers.
Carol's husband, Gerald Vance, preceded her in death, but her memory will be remembered and cherished by those she leaves behind; Two sons, Tommy (Stacy) of Jackson, TN. and Todd (Shawna) of Brandon, MS.; seven precious grandchildren; Mary Kimble (Danny), Justin (Lucky) Kern, Riley (Trey), Collin, Matt Trice (Breanna), Andrew Trice and Colby; Six amazing great-grandchildren, Cameron Kern, Wylder Kern, Dallas Kern, Owen Trice, Alivia Trice, and baby Luka Richardson; and numerous nieces and nephews which she loved dearly.
Memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse.
