Carol Ann Wilson, nee Cato, of Cuba, MO, was born on Tuesday, March 31, 1959 in St. Louis, MO, to Shirley Ann Cato. She passed away at her home in Cuba, MO, on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the age of 66 years and 13 days.
Carol grew up between St. Louis, MO and Poplar Bluff, MO. She had worked as a cook for various schools, restaurants and nursing homes. She has lived in several states previously, including Arkansas and Florida, before making her roots in Cuba in 2001. Carol had accepted the Lord early in life and was baptized last summer in the Meramec River with her son, Dylan. She had a tattoo that said, "I Belong to Jesus," that she was extremely proud of. Carol enjoyed reading, gardening, planting vegetables, flowers and anything else she could make grow. She loved the outdoors; whether it was time spent at the river, hiking, bird watching, or looking for arrowheads and neat rocks. Most of all, Carol loved time spent with her family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Gladys Whittaker and step-father, Loren Peek.
Carol is survived by her mother, Shirley Peek of Steelville, MO; sons, Dylan Wilson of Cuba, MO, Lane York of Lebanon, MO and Chris (Michelle) Wilson of Steelville, MO; siblings, Darryl (Dora) Pruett of Dallas, TX, Alilah (Don) Owens of NC and Monty Pruett of Steelville, MO; 15 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, MO. Funeral Service immediately followed at 12:00 PM with Pastor Matt Cook officiating. Burial was at Delhi Cemetery in Cuba, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
